GibYellow approached us with a project to update the functionality of the Gibraltar Telephone Directory online. We put our heads together and came up with a plan of action focusing on consolidating and fixing current functionality and, moreover, identifying and capitalising on workflow improvement opportunities.

Herold Mediatel Ltd had been looking for a reliable and trustworthy person to pull together the tired and dated database that in effect held our business together. The database had been worked on and rehashed many times over the years, however the time had come for a drastic rethink and redesign in regards to performance, durability and usability. I count myself fortunate that Nick Feek of Business Logic was recommended to me as a possible answer.
From first contact my hopes were high and Nick has proved himself to be incredibly capable and efficient in regards to performance, cost and deadlines. His guidance was paramount in shaping our vision of the database, and in recognising how the functionality could improve the efficiency of the business overall. Time has proven this to be true as it has enabled our sales staff to spend more time out selling to our customers and less time at the computer as the revised database is fast and easy to use. With the new features our accounts department can retrieve exactly the data they need when they need it.
The Project Explained…
This was an extensive project which involved not only porting the entire application to up-to-date technology, but reassessing all the current functionality to eliminate many long term issues that the client was enduring without adequate support from their current provider.
We re-designed the entire database, eliminating some data integrity issues and ensuring that legacy data could be maintained. Then we ported the application code and database to the latest technologies, dealing with any associated issues. Once we had replicated the fundamental functionality, we started planning improvements – specifically for the site administrators – to improve workflow, reduce errors and maintain regulatory compliance.
